Distaclor General Information
Distaclor (brand names: Raniclor / Ceclor / Distaclor / Keflor) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used for treating infections caused by certain bacteria.
Distaclor is indicated in the treatment of the following infections when caused by susceptible strains of the designated micro-organisms:
Lower respiratory infections, including pneumonia, acute bronchitis, and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.
Upper respiratory infections, including pharyngitis and tonsillitis.
Otitis media.
Skin and soft-tissue infections.
Urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis and cystitis.
Distaclor has been found to be effective in both acute and chronic urinary tract infectious; sinusitis; gonococcal urethritis.
Distaclor is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It kills sensitive bacteria by interfering with formation of the bacteria's cell wall while it is growing. This weakens the cell wall and it ruptures, resulting in the death of the bacteria.
Distaclor Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Distaclor exactly as directed.
Distaclor may be taken with or without food. The capsules and tablets should be swallowed whole and taken with a full glass of water. Swallow the long-acting tablets whole; do not split, chew, or crush them.
To clear up your infection completely, continue using Distaclor for the full course of treatment, even if you feel better in a few days.
Distaclor works best if it is taken at the same time(s) each day.
