Keflor General Information
Keflor (brand names: Raniclor / Ceclor / Distaclor / Keflor) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used for treating infections caused by certain bacteria.
Keflor is indicated in the treatment of the following infections when caused by susceptible strains of the designated micro-organisms:
Lower respiratory infections, including pneumonia, acute bronchitis, and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.
Upper respiratory infections, including pharyngitis and tonsillitis.
Otitis media.
Skin and soft-tissue infections.
Urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis and cystitis.
Keflor has been found to be effective in both acute and chronic urinary tract infectious; sinusitis; gonococcal urethritis.
Keflor is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It kills sensitive bacteria by interfering with formation of the bacteria's cell wall while it is growing. This weakens the cell wall and it ruptures, resulting in the death of the bacteria.
Keflor Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Keflor exactly as directed.
Keflor may be taken with or without food. The capsules and tablets should be swallowed whole and taken with a full glass of water. Swallow the long-acting tablets whole; do not split, chew, or crush them.
To clear up your infection completely, continue using Keflor for the full course of treatment, even if you feel better in a few days.
Keflor works best if it is taken at the same time(s) each day.
If you miss a dose of Keflor, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Keep Keflor at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.
