Ethionamide (generic name: ethionamide) belongs to a group of medicines known as antitubercular agents.
Ethionamide is used for the treatment of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial diseases, usually in combination with other antituberculosis medicines.
Ethionamide Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Ethionamide exactly as directed.
The usual initial dosage for adults is 250 mg daily for 1-2 days, then the dosage may be gradually increased up to 750 mg daily.
Ethionamide Precautions
Tell your doctor before taking Ethionamide, if:
you are allergic to any medicines;
you have severe liver disease, diabetes, or thyroid dysfunction;
you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
