Ampicillin General Information
Ampicillin (brand names include: Ampicyn / Penbritin / Rimacillin / Principen / Omnipen) belongs to a group of medicines called beta-lactam antibiotics.
Ampicillin is used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria, such as ear infections, bladder infections, pneumonia, gonorrhea, and E. coli or salmonella infection.
Ampicillin Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Ampicillin exactly as directed.
The dosage will depend on your condition on other factors such as your age and weight.
Take the medicine with a full glass of water. Ampicillin should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating a meal.
Take this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your symptoms may get better before the infection is completely treated.
